The Phoenix Park measures 1,752 acres and is 5 times bigger than Hyde Park in London and twice the size of Central Park in New York City. Our Phoenix park print depicts the Wellington Monument which at 205 feet tall is the tallest obelisk in Europe. It was built to commemorate the victories of the Duke of Wellington who was born in Dublin and it would have been even taller and even more ornate, with plans for a statue of the Duke of Wellington on horseback were it not for funding shortages. Anyone who has visited The Phoenix Park will recognise the monument instantly.Our Phoenix Park print is part of our“Dublin Town” print series, an architecturally inspired collection of contemporary open edition prints incorporating vivid inks and eye-catching textual elements reminiscent of vintage gig posters.
